BEECHER EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (EMA)
The Beecher Emergency Management Agency or EMA is a group of volunteers who assist the Beecher Police Department, Beecher Fire Protection District and Beecher Department of Public Works in several ways. Their main duties include traffic control and crowd supervision in the case of accidents, water main breaks and special events. There have been occasions where they have assisted with searching for missing persons and serve as trained weather spotters who keep their eyes to the sky during severe weather. EMA members may always be found at community events such as National Night Out, Cop On Top, Holiday Shop with a Hero as well as other events helping out wherever they are needed.
The EMA team has training in CPR/AED, Community Emergency Response Team Training, National Safety Council Flagger Training, and Illinois Department of Transportation Traffic Incident Management Training and train several times a year to keep certifications and knowledge current. Some members have backgrounds in the military, police, fire, and EMT/Paramedic.
